今月初めの木材市で、ようやく直径が40センチを超える木材を入手できました（高山市丹生川町のナラ）。これで厚板も挽けるので、今年もそろそろ原木購入は終わり。今シーズンもなんとか希望の量は確保できました。月に二回ある木材市ですが、ついうっかり忘れてしまったり用事が重なった際には行けないこともあります。そんな時に限って大径木のナラが出ていたりして、後悔することもしばしば。ところが、よくよく調べて見ると、飛騨のナラではないことが良くあります。飛騨の木材市ですが、出品されるのは飛騨からだけではありません。富山県や長野県、遠くは山梨県なんてのも最近は多いのです。良いナラが出ていても、飛騨のものでなければ買いません。サクラやクルミは人気で飛騨でも使う作り手は多いですが、飛騨の材料屋さんで購入しているから飛騨の木材だと思っていると大間違いです。かなりの確率で他県のものです。結局、きちんと産地を把握するには、人任せでは到底難しいというのが実感です。原木で購入するということは、製材してみたら使えるところが少ないこともあるわけで、リスクを抱える覚悟がいるわけです。これは実はHIDA Leatherついても同様です。原皮のままでは細かな穴や傷はわかりません。でもそれを承知で購入しています。結局、リスクを抱えない限り、トレーサビリティは難しいのです。（人任せだと知らないうちに産地偽装している可能性があるのです）

Although cherry trees and walnut are popular and there are many craftsman used also in Hida, it is a big mistake if you think that it is Hida’s lumbers because you are purchasing at Hida’s wood material shop. those are lumbers of another prefecture with a considerable probability. After all, it is realistic that it is difficult to grasp the production area properly with the person in charge. To buy with lumbers is that there are few places you can use if you saw lumber, so you have the risk. Actually this is the same for HIDA Leather. If we get beef’s skins, we can not find holes or scratches. But We buy those with consent. Ultimately, it is difficult to say the traceability, unless we have risks.
